OTIS (ONE Total Integration System): OTIS Fork & OTIS Bar/Stem

As the acronym suggests, this integrated system is used exclusively on the ONE. The system is uniquely designed in unison and comprises the one-piece integrated OTIS bar/stem and our proprietary external-steerer dual clamp design OTIS fork.

Together the OTIS fork and the super aero and extremely stiff bar/stem combine to significantly reduce the frontal area for maximum aerodynamic performance, and deliver exceptional front end stability and steering precision, thanks to perfect alignment and maximum stiffness. The system also integrates internal cable routing from the STIs for both front/rear derailleurs and brakes resulting in clean and aerodynamic lines. A removable direct-mounted Garmin computer mount puts all your data cleanly in sight.

The dual clamp OTIS fork fixes to the steerer both beneath and on top of the headtube and mates directly with our custom one-piece bar and stem assembly via four 6mm direct mount bolts. This arrangement allows for adjustment of handlebar height using spacers to shim up or down, as required, without the need for ever cutting the steerer. All hardware is hidden from sight and airflow under a sculpted carbon top cap. Each OTIS bar/stem unit is available in 15 possible permutations of width/stem length options for a precisely tailored fit comprising five stem length options: 90, 100, 110, 120 and 130mm; and three bar width options: 400, 420 and 440mm.

RGi Carbon Technology

Our frame laminate design and manufacturing process ensures that we put the waste into the garbage can and not into the frame; using a computer programme called Fibersim, each layer is precisely cut to minimise any overlaps or extra materials where they are not required. The result: the strongest, lightest frame possible. Each Factor Bikes frame is made from three different carbon types, each selected for their various performance characteristics. Standard Modulus, Medium Modulus and High Modulus Pitch Fibre. While the first two are common to the cycling industry the last – the Pitch Fibre – is far rarer because it demands specific skills to work with, and comes at a relatively very high cost. But we use it simply because it’s the lightest and stiffest carbon available for bike frames.

Shank Fork

A pared-back traditional internal fork used on Factor Bikes ONE-S models, the unique Shank fork shares the same aerodynamic lower sections as the ONE’s dual clamp Bayonet fork but with a traditional, internal steerer to deliver a lighter, more compliant but still massively aerodynamic front end. This very special fork uses Direct-mount dual-bolt brake interface, this provides the ultimate in upfront stopping power. The Shank fork also allows you to fine tune the ONE-S’s bike fit for a super low or more upright cockpit set up using a standard bar and stem. 

Svelte Fork

Factor Bikes’ proprietary Svelte fork is designed and used exclusively on our O2 model: using a 1-1/8" to 1-3/8" tapered steerer, the fork crown blends organically into the O2’s headtube, the lowers are sculpted to have the most minimal surface area of any fork for ultra low weight that together ensures a laterally stiff yet compliant ride for optimum performance; designed to clear 28c+ tyres for smoothing even the harshest pavé, the Svelte is an essential of the O2’s lightweight versatility.

Twin Vane Downtube
Factor Bikes’ unique Twin Vane design reduces turbulent and drag-inducing air from the front wheel by allowing it to pass freely through the downtube and dissipate more smoothly around the rear of the bike. This unique design is used on our ONE and ONE-S models and delivers 100g of aerodynamic efficiency at 40km/h compared to a non-split downtube design – equating to about one second per kilometre in savings. This downtube is totally unique in the cycling industry. The cost of producing a bicycle with this downtube is significantly higher than a traditional downtube. Furthermore, the engineering skill involved exists in very limited capability. As with all our designs, the Twin Vane split downtube results from our design and engineering team’s constant quest for aerodynamic and aesthetic perfection. Our development process merges cutting-edge mathematical and engineering expertise with the world leading expertise of the sharpest, most demanding test riders.
